cyannagraph

During the process of creating cyanotypes Barker began to notice areas of white and blue in the world around her, a cloud in the sky, or a white scratch on blue paintwork.

Reflecting the advance in technology - from the alternative cyanotype process of the nineteenth century, to a digital photograph in the twenty first century - is in some ways similar to the advances in the technological production of textiles, the negative impact of which now finds clothing sharing the same habitat as algae.

Research notebook 10 is presented as a zine, and includes a selection of these images all taken within a short distance from the coastline.

A cyannagraph is a photograph, with particular reference to a cyanotype and to anna.
